On June 5, millions of people around the world will be celebrating World Environment Day. This year’s theme “Connecting people to Nature” offers a chance for us to reconnect with nature and celebrate the places that matter most to us - and this year, Canada is the official host country!
The day will be recognized in countless ways throughout the nation. Put your values into action and take part in the celebrations by volunteering your time for a compelling cause. Below are a few ways to get involved to make the most of World Environment Day 2017:
12th Annual Volunteer Impact Awards / 12e Prix annuels sur l’impact bénévole
The 12th Annual Volunteer Impact Awards were hosted by the Volunteer Action Centre of Kitchener Waterloo and Area during National Volunteer Week. The Gala Dinner recognized 14 volunteers, groups, businesses, and programs that have made a significant contribution to volunteerism in Waterloo Region. Recipients ranged from a newcomer youth to a team of stroke survivors. During the Volunteer Action Centre’s 30th Anniversary year (2014) an award of merit was established to enable the Centre to recognize broad, overarching contributions to volunteerism.
