Centre d’action bénévole de Québec (CABQ) has developed a comprehensive volunteer recognition program that formally acknowledges volunteer contributions and provides professional references for volunteer experience.
PREB allows managers of volunteers to create a detailed certificate of achievement for individual volunteers. The certificate highlights the skills the volunteer has developed and the experience gained through volunteering. It also clearly lists the tasks and activities the volunteer was responsible for. PREB also provides training materials and online resources for volunteer managers.
PREB benefits a wide-ranging audience, including youth volunteers, new Canadians, volunteers seeking employment, experienced volunteers, employers, voluntary organizations and managers of volunteers.
In 2012, Volunteer Canada and Investors Group worked with CABQ to adapt PREB to English, setting the foundation for the English-language program to be pilot tested in 2013.
In 2013, Volunteer Canada announced the nationwide rollout of PREB with a "Virtual Ribbon Cutting" ceremony on Facebook. To view the online event, click here.
“Investors Group is proud to be a long-time supporter of Volunteer Canada and National Volunteer Week, and we are particularly excited about the implementation of CABQ’s PREB in the 2013 National Volunteer Week campaign.
"Through PREB, Volunteer Canada and Investors Group are hoping to increase the recognition given to Canada’s volunteers by acknowledging and promoting their involvement, add another layer of credibility to their valuable volunteer work, enhance volunteers’ employability and volunteer commitment and provide non-profits with practical human resources management tools to facilitate recruitment and performance evaluation.”
