Older adults and volunteering: A Booming Trend

With more Canadians retiring earlier, post-work years are becoming almost as long as work years. Canadians 50 years and older represent a growing force in society - one that is ripe with potential. Many of these Canadians have discovered the fulfillment and satisfaction that can be found in volunteering.

With this in mind, Volunteer Canada in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy, Health Canada, and Manulife Financial, has written an information guide, Volunteering … A Booming Trend , targeting the 50 plus generation. Its purpose is to educate older adults in Canada about the overall importance of volunteerism in the community and how they can get involved.

Volunteering ... A Booming Trend is a colourful and attractive publication promising to inform its audiences about the overall importance of volunteerism to Canadian communities. Readers are invited to experience personal fulfillment and satisfaction later in life through volunteering. Testimonials and photos of 'real' volunteers in action complete this emotionally charged inward-thinking piece.
