On April 24th, Volunteer Canada was pleased to participate in the celebration of National Volunteer Week and the 50th anniversary Volunteer West Island in Montreal. With an impressive attendance of over 300 people, including representatives from 69 local organizations and all levels of government, it was a festive and up-beat affair.

The 12th Annual Volunteer Impact Awards were hosted by the Volunteer Action Centre of Kitchener Waterloo and Area during National Volunteer Week. The Gala Dinner recognized 14 volunteers, groups, businesses, and programs that have made a significant contribution to volunteerism in Waterloo Region. Recipients ranged from a newcomer youth to a team of stroke survivors. During the Volunteer Action Centre’s 30th Anniversary year (2014) an award of merit was established to enable the Centre to recognize broad, overarching contributions to volunteerism.
