Corporate Community Involvement
Corporate community involvement is a movement quickly gaining momentum across North America and globally. Companies that jump on board are improving brand awareness and reputation, recruiting young and talented employees, increasing social capital and investing in professional development—all while having a positive impact in the communities in which they operate.
Consumers are asking for it. 86% globally believe businesses need to place an equal weight on society’s interests as they do on making a profit.
If you are a business, we can help you answer that call to action. Let your corporate community involvement program take root effectively.
Experience you can trust
Volunteer Canada has a 35-year history of enhancing the volunteering experience and keeping volunteerism strong in Canada. We work at the core of the voluntary sector, with a strong network of contacts, including voluntary organizations from across the country.
We also have more than 10 years’ experience driving corporate citizenship in this country. We are not just a thought leader in this arena; we help many large corporations adopt gold standard employer-supported volunteering programs. You can download the Get Volunteering Summary, an example of one of our award-winning campaigns.
Volunteer Canada is the founder and leader of the Corporate Council on Volunteering, which includes a diverse group of business innovators from across the country. As a collective, the Council fuels the corporate citizenship movement by providing leadership and boosting the profile of corporate community involvement. Volunteer Canada can work with you to raise the national profile of your company by positioning you as a leading corporate supporter of volunteerism.
We offer strategic counsel and program development, helping you build and anchor an effective corporate community involvement program. We customize programs to fit every client’s capacity and community involvement goals with creative group activities and actionable insights.
We also offer you reach. We’re connected across sectors and communities, including Canada’s more than 200 volunteer centres. With our support, you connect with other like-minded businesses and community organizations. We’ll even help you draft the MOU and get it signed.
As a national bilingual organization, Volunteer Canada provides services in both official languages. We are equally equipped for program activation in francophone communities.

The challenge: Ignite employees to take action towards the company’s goal of one million hours of community service by 2015.
The solution: Celebrate 40 years of business by beautifying a rundown city park in Toronto and another in Vancouver.
The results: More than 1,200 employees participated and logged nearly 10,000 hours of community service in just one day.
The level of customer service, attention to detail, and “can do” friendly attitude was something I’ve never experienced before working with a supplier or non-profit. I also received incredibly positive feedback from all parties involved in this project around the level of service, professionalism and expertise of the crew from Volunteer Canada. This event was the start of our relationship and one we are absolutely looking forward to continue. We really couldn’t have pulled off a successful program without their help and guidance!

The challenge: Achieve record employee participation in the company’s annual Month of Service.
The solution: A multi-year commitment to better communities nationwide with a distinct focus on education and the environment.
The results: A measurable increase in employee participation on a full array of transformational projects—building a sustainable garden atop an urban community centre and renovating an inner city secondary school are among the highlights.
Volunteer Canada’s group volunteering model is a perfect fit for any corporation wishing to start or improve their corporate volunteer program. For SAP Canada’s Annual Month of Service, we continually rely on Volunteer Canada's affiliates and expertise to create numerous events across Canada to actively engage our many employee volunteers.
