Volunteer Canada is celebrating the start of National Volunteer Week with His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. Today, we are participating in a series of celebrations in Ottawa, as well as a virtual event for volunteers and organizations across the country.

OTTAWA – Volunteer Canada builds buzz around its 2012 National Volunteer Week campaign by launching the 2012 edition of the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement. Adding to the excitement is a new multi-year agreement which expands the annual National Volunteer Week campaign to a year-round effort – delivered in partnership with Investors Group, longstanding supporter of NVW and Canada’s corporate leader in volunteer recognition. NVW 2012 runs April 15-21 and more information is available at www.nationalvolunteerweek.ca.

OTTAWA – Newly unveiled research today from Canada’s most comprehensive study on giving and volunteering confirms an increase of nearly one million volunteers nationally. The 2010 Canada Survey of Giving, Volunteering and Participating also reveals that young Canadians, 15-24, have consistently participated in volunteering more than any other age group for over a decade.
